Overview

Dr. John Winter was born and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He received his undergraduate education and Bachelor of Arts Physical Science degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. He then attended medical school at the University of Kansas in Kansas City and received his Doctorate of Medicine degree. His Orthopedic Surgery residency was completed at the University of Kansas Medical School, followed by the completion of his Pediatric Orthopedics fellowship at Children’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Winter has more than 38 years of practice experience in orthopedics. Prior to joining our team at Wyoming Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in 2012, he worked as an orthopedic surgeon both at Cheyenne Orthopedics and as an independent provider here in Cheyenne. He is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery and is a certified Makoplasty procedure provider. He and the team at WOSM are the first in Wyoming (and within a 100-mile radius) to utilize the innovative Makoplasty procedure for hip and knee replacement surgeries.

Dr. Winter’s areas of specialty include pediatric orthopedics, scoliosis, club foot correction, joint reconstruction, trauma and sports medicine. In his personal time, he enjoys bicycling, traveling, skiing and hunting.
