The doctor at the nursing home where my father lay dying, did not even visit and said he was probably dehydrated. He was struggling to breathe and it was clear he was in distress. I finally asked them to call hospice and the nurse came as an emergency and said my father should have been treated and was actively dying. He was transported to hospice and died about an hour after he got there. I want others to know that these doctors sent out to nursing homes do not adequately check or treat the people who are in distress. The hospice nurse was appalled at the condition of my dad by the time she got there. A nurse at the nursing home was also clearly frustrated when she could not get the help my dad needed. I sure hope no other elderly person has to go through this as they are at the mercy of these doctors.
