As a member of HealthyCT, you’re actually a part of our non-profit organization. And as we explain below, that means any “profits” or proceeds must go back into programs, services and cost reductions that benefit our members – individuals like you.
Our Vision & Mission
As a member-driven non-profit, our mission is to provide Connecticut residents with comprehensive health insurance and easy access to quality healthcare. We’re committed to developing an innovative, progressive health plan that supports the delivery of patient-centered care for individuals, families and businesses.
We’re a CO-OP
HealthyCT is a Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP). CO-OP’s like HealthyCT have been developed in states across the country and have received loan dollars in order to start up from the Federal Government as a part of healthcare reform. All received initial funding from the federal government as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to drive healthcare reform. A CO-OP is a member-run, nonprofit organization that provides individuals, families and businesses with comprehensive, quality healthcare coverage at fair, consistent rates.
A Patient Centered Model
Our HealthyCT CO-OP is based on a patient-centered medical home (PCMH) model. PCMH has been shown to help patients stay healthy, improve health and lower the overall cost – while increasing the quality of care. The model encourages – but does not require – you to choose a primary care doctor.
