    Services Used: Outpatient

I saw Dr Paixao after having some palpitations and chest pain. He ordered a stress test and then (2 months later), a heart cath. Everything was cold and impersonal. I was simply called on the phone and briefly told (by the NP) that I needed a heart cath. I was scheduled, (never told that if I needed a stent, it would have to be a second heart cath, doubling my risk).
I showed up at the clinic, starting with his condescending attitude that it could be in the right arm despite my prior lymph nodes removal without problems. I assured him that I didn’t want it there, and he finally agreed.
After my procedure (there were no blockages), he walked in and assured me I was fine to go. No follow-up was scheduled, (despite a positive stress test showing inadequate blood flow to the right side of my heart). When I inquired about it, he simply stated that “It was a misunderstanding with the NP”. So, why did I have the heart cath?
After the heart cath, I had extreme pain (which shouldn’t normally happen), I was discharged without any further discussion). I began to have terrific pain on awakening each morning. When I called the office and ask for a follow-up to further explain my echo, I was told it would be late January to February. (My echo was in Itober). I wasn’t allowed to speak to anyone concerning my tests.
My arm pain continued, and an ultrasound was finally ordered by Dr Paixao, which revealed radial artery occlusion. After the end of the second day, he finally had his nurse to call and tell me “that happens all the time”. There was no discusssion about it, with the nurse simply saying “I’m just the messenger”. Radial artery occlusion can be quite severe, up to losing fingers (very severe cases).

https://cdt.amegroups.com/article/view/14270/15026 This article states that it happens 1-10% of the time. If it happens to him “all the time”, looks like negligence to me. Beware Dr Paixao unless you want to feel left alone and neglected. He clearly is only there for a payday.
