Marlinton Hospital and Infirmary were first established by the County Court in 1926. It became known as Pocahontas Memorial Hospital as a tribute to the men and women who served in the military from Pocahontas County. After nearly seventy years, the hospital was moved to Buckeye in October 1995. Pocahontas Memorial Hospital is now a 25-bed critical access hospital with a federally designated Rural Health Clinic.
