Overview of Plainview Hospital

Plainview Hospital is an acute care community hospital with 219 beds that treats patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, and gynecological conditions. It has a same-day surgery program and is also the site of one of the Don Monti Cancer Centers.

The Emergency Department at Plainview is staffed by a team of dedicated board-certified emergency medicine physicians and certified emergency nurses and technicians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and offers expanded treatment areas and a Fast Track Unit. It is also a New York State Department of Health Primary Stroke Center and a recipient of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With the Guidelines® — Stroke Quality Achievement Award.

Another renowned service at Plainview is the total joint replacement program of the hospital’s orthopedics department, which offers a holistic approach to healing, beginning with the preoperative total joint replacement class. Patients learn how to prepare for surgery, what to expect during their hospital stay and how to plan for care after they leave. In 2011, Plainview received the Blue Distinction Center for hip and knee replacement from the BlueCross BlueShield Association.
