The current 72 bed primary care facility serving families in five counties was opened in 1983, and expanded in 1994, as the modern successor to Paintsville Hospital. Named for a renowned native surgeon, Dr. Paul B. Hall was the first physician in Eastern Kentucky to inject a local patient with life-saving penicillin. His legacy continues in a coterie of physicians who, like him, are dedicated to the art and science of healing.
Recent additions of Neurological Radiology and LightSpeed VCT CAT scans have added significantly to the diagnostic capabilities available to our patients and physicians which include Bone Densitometry, MRI, mammography, brain and heart SPECT imaging, tomography and sonography and arthrograms.
With certified staff specialists in surgery, neurology, gynecology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, psychiatry, cardiology, radiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology and oncology, Paul B. Hall serves more than 45,000 people with a medical service that has not only remained in the top ranking of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, but has been the recipient of Accreditation with Commendation on three separate occasions in recent years.
