As you can see below, my e-mail, and the response I received from Decatur Memorial Hospital. She, Lisa Moran promised to get back with me within 30 days. She has certainly not, and needs to be reprimanded for her negligence. I have never seen a hospital that has an elderly lady at the front door, asking questions about COVID-19. Most of the times we just walked in, no questions asked.
The problem is, they let my niece into the hospital, when her mother just tested positive from Covid-19. This is preposterous they would allow this. COVID-19 is detectable on fabric for up to two days. We were infected by this action, including my father, whom was in the ICU. Due to their ludicrous behavior, I and my wife are now suffering from Long Covid.
You think Decatur Memorial Hospital would have some dignity, and most important a response. Now, they must pay the consequences for their actions, and irresponsibility.

To whom it may concern.
I would greatly appreciate some answers to why we contracted COVID-19 from your hospital before we go any further with our lawyer/ news (WAND), and Herald & Review. Which all seem more than eager. We came from Stockholm Sweden to Chicago, and got special permission from the American Government to do so. This is due to my father having heart surgery the previous month. We arrived in Chicago and we had to spend 14 days in quarantine. I myself have an American passport and Swedish, my wife Swedish and Danish. You therefore have many answers to explain to all governments involved, due to our condition.
After spending 12 days in quarantine, we received a call from my sister (XXXXX). My father (XXXXX), fell from his tree stand while setting it up. His back was broken, he also had a blood clot which caused paralysis in his lower extremities. His surgery was successful in repairing the damage, especially the blood clot. We of course went directly to see him. First thing when we arrived, took a Covid test at the Decatur Civic Center, waiting hours. Which was negative. We have taken over 50 Covid tests, working at a hospital, all negative!
We then went to the hospital, where I noticed my sister (XXXXX), was coughing. I told her she must immediately leave, and needs to get a Covid test now. She left immediately, and took a Covid test. We both have survived this, following these protocols, masks at all times, disinfection after touching anything, and two meters apart. Next morning, I received a call from her husband (XXXXX), that she has tested positive. I therefore texted my sister, my niece (XXXXX) must "STAY AWAY" from the ICU, at all costs! I have this in writing by SMS. When we arrived, she was there, (XXXXX). I told her to leave now, and she refused! She says "she knows" the people here, and they won’t remove her. I then tried to speak to a nurse. who was highly stressed? She completely refused to leave, after her mother tested positive. Whom she has spent an absorbent of time with!
This I find, "Gross Negligence "on your part. Then to be safe, took a Covid test once again at the Decatur Civic Center, waiting for five hours. We both, my wife, and I tested positive for Covid-19! We therefore, as requested by the Decatur Heart Department, had to contact the Swedish Government to report this. We spent 14 days at my father's home in complete hell. We both are now suffering from Long Covid-19. When we arrived into the hospital to visit my father, my niece, as I already stated was there. She had NO mask on, and spent most of the time answering her phone for her job. When she wasn't, she was helping my father, again no mask, nor gloves. Not only did they infect us, also my father, and my sister's husband. My father, whom is 82, and just had major surgery.
Why was my sister allowed into the hospital when she was coughing, and I had to mention it? Why was my niece allowed to stay in the hospital, when she already knew, when her mother was already infected with Covid? Why wasn’t my niece forced to leave, but I was told “she knows these people”, and would not leave. Who knows how many people they actually infected with Covid-19 in the ICU? You must take responsibility upon your actions dealing with this. You allowed this to happen, when you come into any hospital, they ask you, “have you been around anybody with Covid 19”, well you certainly have failed upon this!
Again, we our both suffering from “Long Covid “, and we want answers! How could this happen, because someone let my niece (XXXXX) into the ICU? Her knowing her mother (XXXXX) had just tested positive for Covid! How can this even be possible? I will not hesitate to make this public, and go on all social media. I will also file a complaint with the IDPH, and the HHS.
Sincerely
Dr. Scott Shearer
