Overview of Wills Memorial Hospital

For over 95 years, Wills Memorial Hospital (WMH) has touched the lives of families, neighbors, and friends in Wilkes and surrounding counties. WMH opened its doors at the current location in 1961 as a public, non-profit hospital. Today, WMH is a 25-bed critical access hospital offering a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, employing 190 full and part-time staff, and dedicated to providing quality care for over 19,000 residents primarily in a three-county radius.

WMH opened the doors to its new and renovated $12 million state-of-the-art Inpatient Wing, Main Entrance, Specialty Clinic, Emergency Room, OR waiting area, Inpatient Pharmacy, Respiratory Care, and Inpatient and Outpatient Therapy gyms throughout 2010-2012. Our renovated facility allows WMH staff to better serve the needs of patients and families, with vast improvements made in accessibility, enhanced services and patient privacy.

One of the reasons WMH has become the health care provider of choice for so many is that we are more than a hospital. Our expanded scope of health services encompasses the full continuum of care, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, emergency medicine, and treatment of all members of the family, pediatrics to elderly.
