Overview of Seneca District Hospital

Seneca Healthcare District was formed in 1947 as an independent special district to meet the needs of our rural community. The hospital opened the doors to patients in 1954. The Skilled Nursing Facility admitted the first patient in 1976. The hospital based rural health clinic was built in 1996. SHD received Critical Access Hospital designation in 2007. SHD is a non-Profit governmental entity supported by tax dollars.

Our mission at SHD is to deliver high quality comprehensive services with excellence, compassion and competence, meeting or exceeding the expectations of the community we serve. Our staff and providers are dedicated to being the leaders in rural healthcare by providing safe and effective quality health and wellness care. The staff and providers strive to meet our mission statement daily. Our commitment to the community is to create an atmosphere that promotes wellness and healing.

At SHD you will receive individualized care provided by our staff and providers who all share enthusiasm for providing the community with rural healthcare. Our SNF is well known for the homelike and caring environment unmatched by other facilities.
