Overview

Bernice Adu-Amankwa, MD, FACOG is a member of Summit Health's Obstetrics and Gynecology team. Dr. Adu-Amankwa manages the full spectrum of OBGYN conditions from adolescence through menopause and everything in between, including preventive medicine, OBGYN procedures, and pregnancy care. She has special interest in high-risk obstetrics, teenage pregnancy and contraception, and caring for the underserved population.

Dr. Adu-Amankwa especially enjoys setting young women up for a lifetime of routine care, free of fear and anxiety. She says, “Although I love caring for a wide-range of patients, I have an affinity for introducing young patients to the gynecologic world. Being able to empower young women with the information they need to thrive while easing any worries they have about their changing bodies is very important to me.”

Dr. Adu-Amankwa comes from a family of service. Growing up watching her parents serve their community is what sparked her desire to make her own contributions. Now, she takes great pleasure in knowing that she can positively impact someone’s life. With each patient encounter, Dr. Adu-Amankwa endeavors to listen to and hear every concern saying, “It’s amazing how much we can learn about someone by listening to words spoken and watching their body language.”

During medical school, Dr. Adu-Amankwa participated in a variety of research studies and co-authored several medical publications. She has received several awards, including Castle Connolly Regional Top Doctor for 2019 and 2020.

When not at work, Dr. Adu-Amankwa enjoys spending time with her three children and husband. She enjoys listening to all genres of music, dabbling on the piano, trying new recipes, and listening to audiobooks.
