Dr. Stephen Salzbrenner was born in Omaha, got his Bachelor's Degree from Marquette University, attended Creighton Medical School, did his post-graduate training at Naval Medical Center San Diego and Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia. He spent some time working as a Psychiatrist in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom 2005-2006. After leaving the Navy in 2009, he has worked in inpatient and outpatient settings. After spending a couple of years in private practice he returned to academic medicine, which was where he felt most at home. He enjoys using the latest technology, such as pharmacogenetic testing to assist with choosing the best treatment regimen. When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time with his 2 children, fishing and training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

His warm, genuinely-caring personality helped me to open up quickly... he was also able to quickly understand my unique situation. He prescribed the right medication for me right away and it has been working out great. In addition to conventional therapy, we have also been able to work with meditation. Dr. Stephen Salzbrenner studied meditation and its therapeutic effects as part of his dissertation work, which I really appreciate--I think a holistic approach is often best.
