Overview

If you asked 10 year old Rebecca Kelln, MS, MPAS, RD, PA-C, what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would’ve proudly told you that she wanted to be an archaeologist. Eventually, she realized a different dream, and she is now a Physician Assistant with Beacon Medical Group Pediatric Specialty.

“I idolized my father, a gastroenterologist, and my grandfather, a surgeon,” she said. “Growing up, my world was filled with stories of the challenges and successes of serving others in this country and overseas, through the avenue of medicine.”

Kelln took the plunge to attend school at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she earned her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies.
Now, she works primarily with two groups of patients: children who need help to breathe better, and children who need to sleep better. She is able to help them through the use of medications, education, treatments, and behavior modifications.

“I believe in empowering my patients through knowledge, understanding, and accountability,” she said. “I view medicine as a way to serve my community and help people live life to the fullest. I believe that my patients need to be heard, and they play a vital role in maximizing their own health.”

After working with a patient, she hopes that they learn to understand their disease processes and to better take care of themselves.

Specialities

  • Pediatric Pulmonology

Pediatric Pulmonology is the medical study of children’s respiratory issues. The lung and sinus problems that children and teens face are different than what adults suffer from, so specialized care is essential for young patients. Doctors who specialize in pediatric pulmonology may treat children with cystic fibrosis and other lung conditions. They can also help severely ill patients who need the help of a mechanical ventilator as well as those on life support.
