Overview

Since graduating from medical school more than 38 years ago, Mary Clinton, MD has witnessed great changes in medicine: a new focus on advanced technology, a need for cost containment and measures that emphasize disease prevention. As healthcare continues to progress and evolve, however, Dr. Clinton believes it is essential to not neglect the human side of medicine and keep the focus on each individual patient. Direct contact between physician and patient is a profound way to make this happen- one patient at a time.

Dr. Clinton was raised in Los Angeles, CA and attended Loyola/Marymount University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She received her medical degree from University of Southern California in Los Angeles and completed her residency in neurology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she served as chief resident. She also completed a fellowship in neuromuscular disease and electrodiagnostics at Vanderbilt. She has served on the Vanderbilt Faculty and continues to serve as an assistant clinical professor of neurology at Vanderbilt. She joined Skyline Neuroscience Associates in December 2007.

In her spare time, Dr. Clinton enjoys spending time with her husband and working with her horses. As one of six children, she comes from a large family and understands the value of hard work. In her lifetime, she has also shared many issues and experiences her patients face, giving her great compassion and empathy for their life circumstances.
