Pediatric Endocrinology
My clinical interests include juvenile diabetes, thyroid disease, growth disorders such as short stature, disorders of puberty, obesity, and PCOS. I went into medicine to take care of children. I always strive to give children the best care including providing comprehensive diagnosis, treatment and management of complex hormonal problems. Hormonal disorders at times can be complex and challenging, not only to me as a provider but for the family as well. It is a great privilege for me as a physician to be a part of this journey with them. I want to be able to help them and learn from their experiences as well. My goal is to develop lasting connections with our patients and their families. My special interest is in juvenile diabetes. I always believe that it is important to empower and educate the patients and the families to be active participants in their care. I am also particularly interested in the use of technology to improve diabetes care and control.
Pediatric endocrinology is a field of medicine that focuses on the hormonal systems of children. Kids who have problems with puberty or other hormone-related disorders like abnormal growth or diabetes may be referred to a pediatric endocrinologist. The endocrine systems of adults and those of children differ significantly, so it’s important for patients to see the proper physician for their unique needs. These medical professionals may suggest medication or hormone therapy in some cases.
A pediatrician is a healthcare professional who specializes in treating children. They offer physical, behavioral, and mental care for children from birth until age 18. They diagnose and treat common childhood illnesses and health problems as well as more serious health conditions. They also monitor children with checkups to make sure they are growing properly and hitting the correct milestones.
