    Services Used: Outpatient

I am reporting Doctor, if she is one, Mary Mendelsohn to the Criminal and Fraud Division of New Jersey Consumer Affairs and New Jersey State Board of Optometrists due to my experience.

I am new at wearing glasses. I visited Lens Crafter''s and got a prescription but did not like their glasses.

I went to Mary Mendelsohn's office asking to purchase a new pair of inexpensive glasses. I was forced to have another eye exam which I did not need and after asking for simple progressives was sold a prescription that ran well over $1000.00. The glasses themselves were very cheap, if I recall less than $100.00.

    My eyesight is pretty simple:
    OD Sphere +1.00 Cyl 0.25 Axis 80 Add +2.50
    OS Sphere +0.75 Cyl 0.25 Axis 55 Add +2.50

I could not see properly out of them and repeatedly called her office advising them. Couldn't drive with them, nor read with them. They said my eyes would adjust and to keep trying them in my home. My eyes did not adjust and in fact, I fell down a flight of stairs because I could not see. I returned the glasses simply asking for a refund.

Mendelsohn herself said she would process a refund. Three weeks later, I receive a document in the mail stating they refunded my VISA, however, did not see it in my account and, my bank, being the very reputable Chase Bank confirmed they never got a refund from them. I called and advised them and was hung up on by a very rude young lady.

I took the documentation of my account deposits for the period of time they claimed to have refunded me, and the Chase Bank letter advising they never made a refund to my VISA and expressed mailed it to their office stating I never got the refund and to please refund me.

No response. I called and left a message. No response, I called again and spoke to a very rude young woman who hung up on me again. I called a fifth time and am told I purchased my glasses with an American Express card. I advised them I've never had an American Express card and was again hung up on. I called again asking for a return call from Sharon the office manager and was advised she quit and again was hung up on.

I called again and I was advised I would receive a call back and of course that call back never came.

    At this stage I can safely say;
Not a bit respectful behavior nor the professionalism one would expect.
They did not fill the prescription sent to them that I requested causing me bodily harm.
At this stage of the game, they simply stole over $1000.00 from me.
They took money from my insurer for an eye exam I did not need
They took possession of the glasses that I returned.
They never refunded me a cent.

I am out of pocket over $1000.00 and have no glasses after trusting Mary Mendelsohn to be a reputable and licensed Optometrist and now query if Mary Mendelsohn even has a license to practice.

All I wanted was a simple pair of inexpensive progresses after literally handing them a prescription. I have been put through hell by this woman and her cruel and bully like office staff.

I don't believe a single review and believe I have been scammed by a ruthless group of women and recommend you stay far away from them for the sake of your well-being and your wallet.
