Dr. Branson was the on-call doctor for my OB-GYN's group when I was in labor with my son. He came in to see me at 3AM because the resident on duty was concerned about my son's fluctuating heart rate during contractions. Despite never having met Dr. Branson before, my husband and I felt immediately confident that we were in good hands with him. He was also concerned about my slow labor progression as well as my son's heart rate and recommended that we deliver via unplanned c-section to avoid/reduce potential complications. We proceeded with the C-section, where upon delivery, it was discovered that my son had a true knot in his umbilical cord and the cord was around his neck. It's entirely possible that had we tried to proceed with a traditional delivery, we would have ended up having to do an emergency c-section instead, and it's also possible that my son would have experienced fetal distress or worse. As an important side note, the other doctors in the hospital, as well as my regular OB-GYN, told us that he did a wonderful job with the surgery itself, and my incision healed quickly and without complications. We are very thankful Dr. Branson was on call that night. He did such a great job caring for my son and I, despite not being his patients.
