He went on to complete a residency in Neurological Surgery at Emory University, where he also served as Chief resident. During his residency, he was awarded a National Institute of Health (NIH)/National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) R25 Grant and worked as a post-doctoral research fellow
