Internal Medicine
For me, one of the most rewarding aspects of health care is simply having patients wanting you to spend time with them. I want people to feel comfortable as we talk about their ongoing care. A successful outcome is when a patient feels they are an equal part of their care plan and aware of up-to-date preventative care and treatment plans.
I entered medicine after starting in medical administration. Working more closely with patients is more fulfilling for me. Once I had that feeling of seeing someone happy and improving, there was no going back to administration.
I grew up in southern Vermont and New Hampshire. I enjoy the local food scene in Lebanon, and hiking, skiing and snowboarding with my family.
An internist or Internal Medicine doctor is someone who specializes in diagnosing and treating illnesses, diseases, and health problems. Most internists are also primary care doctors and treat patients on a regular basis. They can diagnose and treat common illnesses or more serious problems. Most people see an internist regularly. Those with chronic illnesses may do so on a monthly or even weekly basis. Internists are the most common types of doctors.
