Internal Medicine
My late cousin who became the first nurse in our family instilled in me, at the age of nine, the passion to become a physician. Seeing joy in the patients that she took care of and the dedication she had inspired me to become a doctor. My philosophy of care is to engage patients. It is important to me to know my patients on a personal level and treat them the way we would want our family to be treated. Outside of work, I love to spend time with my daughter and walk my two dogs. In my spare time, I love to garden.
An internist or Internal Medicine doctor is someone who specializes in diagnosing and treating illnesses, diseases, and health problems. Most internists are also primary care doctors and treat patients on a regular basis. They can diagnose and treat common illnesses or more serious problems. Most people see an internist regularly. Those with chronic illnesses may do so on a monthly or even weekly basis. Internists are the most common types of doctors.
