I believe my role in patient care is to use my expertise and training to ensure that the patient receives the best, state of the art care. When a patient is referred to me with a medical condition, my approach is to discuss the diagnosis and present all treatment options. I go into detail outlining the pros and cons of each option. Then, after listening to each patient’s concerns and needs, my goal is to guide the patient in making the best decision for him/her.
An internist or Internal Medicine doctor is someone who specializes in diagnosing and treating illnesses, diseases, and health problems. Most internists are also primary care doctors and treat patients on a regular basis. They can diagnose and treat common illnesses or more serious problems. Most people see an internist regularly. Those with chronic illnesses may do so on a monthly or even weekly basis. Internists are the most common types of doctors.
