Overview

Christina Lee Chung, MD, FAAD is a board-certified dermatologist treating all types of skin issues in adults and children. Dr. Chung is an expert in cutaneous oncology ā€“ the practice of recognizing skin cancer early and preventing, treating, and understanding the science behind it. Formerly the Director of the Drexel Dermatology Center for Transplant Patients, her clinical practice and research focus on skin cancer and disease that develops in high-risk organ transplant recipients, immunosuppressed patients, and the general population. As a leader and pioneer in her field, Dr. Chung has a specific interest in skin cancer that arises in nonwhite organ transplant patients and has published groundbreaking papers on this topic. Dr. Chung has spoken about her work throughout the United States and Europe and is nationally and internationally recognized for her efforts to identify risk factors that contribute to skin cancer occurrence in this population.

In addition to her extensive work with organ transplant patients, Dr. Chung is also actively engaged in aging research. She is an inventor and primary investigator in the study of a novel topical formulation to prevent and treat age-related changes in the skin. Clinically, she works with her patients to employ non-invasive methods to retard and manage the aging process with natural and graceful results. As an educator for over a decade, Dr. Chung has instructed medical students and residents in the practice of skin and laser surgery in the treatment of a variety of dermatologic and cosmetic conditions.

Dr. Chung has served on the Board of Directors of the International Immunosuppression and Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative and, in 2017, was invited to moderate the first transplant dermatology workshop presented at the American Transplant Congress. Her work is supported by the Skin Cancer Foundation, Pennsylvania State CURE Fund, and Coulter-Drexel Translational Research Partnership. Dr. Chung is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and has membership in numerous professional societies: International Immunosuppression and Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative (ITSCC), Society for Investigative Dermatology, Skin Care in Organ Transplant Patients EUROPE, Philadelphia Dermatological Society, Philadelphia College of Physicians Section on Dermatology.

She holds a B.A. in Spanish from Amherst College with foreign study at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with extensive education in the fine arts at Llotja Escola dā€™ Art in Barcelona and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She received her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and completed her residency in dermatology at Drexel University College of Medicine. She and her husband are raising their daughter and son in Center City, Philadelphia. Dr. Chung is trilingual and fluent in English, Spanish, and Korean.
