Overview

Carol Mendez, MD is a member of Summit Health's Family Medicine team. Dr. Mendez provides the full spectrum of care to patients of all ages, with a special focus on obstetrical and reproductive health care. She is trained to provide a broad spectrum of maternal-child health and works alongside Summit Health obstetrics colleagues to care for patients throughout their entire pregnancy. She greatly enjoys providing care for life-changing conditions such as pregnancy, reproductive health, chronic diseases, and preventive care.

Additionally, Dr. Mendez is board certified in lifestyle medicine, an evidence-based approach to preventing, treating and even reversing diseases by replacing unhealthy behaviors with positive ones — such as eating healthfully, being physically active, managing stress, avoiding risky substance abuse, getting adequate sleep, and having a strong support system.

Dr. Mendez became a doctor to pursue her goals of delivering lifelong healing and developing therapeutic relationships with individual patients and their families. She places special emphasis on prenatal care because she believes family medicine should be “one stop shopping” for pregnant patients. “Being able to care for an entire family is convenient and wholistic, and it gives me a full understanding of all the other aspects of a person’s life that could affect their health,” she says. “Our team partners with patients to ensure the best possible health outcomes for them and their families. And with evening and weekend hours, we ensure access when they need it,” she adds.

When Dr. Mendez is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, and organizing her home.
