I have known since the age of 16 that I wanted to be in healthcare. Taking care of people has always been something that I was passionate about. I decided to further my nursing career by becoming a nurse practitioner to have more of an impact on my patients' care. While I enjoy caring for all patients, I have a special interest in women's health. I like to base my care on the philosophy of teamwork. I want my patients to view me as a member of their team, here to support them and offer advice when needed and to cheer on their successes. When I am not at work, I spend most of my time with my family. I can usually be found at the softball field. In the warm months, I enjoy being near a body of warm water, whether it be a pool, lake, river or the ocean.

Most internists are also primary care doctors and treat patients on a regular basis. They can diagnose and treat common illnesses or more serious problems. Most people see an internist regularly. A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who has gone through additional training to provide more advanced medical and diagnostic care to patients with all different kinds of illnesses. These medical professionals generally hold at least a master’s degree, so they have a comprehensive basis of medical knowledge to help patients suffering from chronic and acute conditions. They may work in hospitals, intensive care units, hospice centers, and even doctor’s offices, depending on their specialty.
