Family Medicine
The opportunity providers have to affect the health and well-being of others in a positive way is what drew me to seek a career in healthcare as a Family Nurse Practitioner. While this process can be simple or complex, I experience a lot of personal and professional satisfaction in working with individuals from all walks of life to optimize their varying states of health and wellness. My approach to patient care is one that is patient-centered. Every aspect of healthcare and the services we provide involves teamwork. The most important partner on that team, and the one whose preferences should always be considered first, is the patient. I believe the skill of being a good listener is the most effective one I have, and it goes a long way in Primary Care. I strive to treat patients as individuals and involve them as much as possible in planning their care and helping them meet their health and wellness-related goals. In general, I am interested in rural healthcare. Access to quality primary healthcare services in Eastern North Carolina is a growing need, and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to provide these services to individuals in the Goldsboro and surrounding areas. I specifically enjoy cardiovascular health and diabetes management. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in natural settings or my backyard as much as possible with my family and our dogs. One of my favorite things to do is sit on the sideline watching my son play sports. I enjoy traveling to the mountains and the beach and feel very fortunate to live so close to both places.
