Overview

I chose to become a doctor so I could have an engaging career that allows for continuous growth and learning while making a positive impact in other peoples lives and in my community. Medicine also provided a unique opportunity for me to serve my country by spending 5 years in the United States Navy after medical school caring for those who defend it. I believe that the patient is the only expert on their own body. As doctors, we are given a unique privilege to partner with them, often in a very intimate way, to reach their health goals to maximize their quality of life. My approach to the practice of medicine is to, through shared decision making, individualize care for each patient within the bounds of evidence-based medicine in order to help them reach those goals. I find partnering with patients in the management of diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease rewarding. From my time in the Navy, I have an interest in young adult and adolescent health. I also have an interest in preventive medicine, ranging from pediatric immunizations to adult cancer screenings and womens health, to include family planning. Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, especially BBQ, and spending time with my wife and two young children. When Im not at work, you can likely find me outside running, biking or working in the yard. I am a fan of all major sports, and I follow the teams in my hometown of New Orleans closely.
