She started her career in academic medicine where her research was in cardiac complications of diabetes. After 18 years in academia, Dr. Trujillo joined the pharmaceutical industry where she was involved in the clinical research and development of several approved diabetes medications. She is passionate about providing care to underserved populations. In her spare time, she volunteers at both local and out of state free clinics and is active in the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
