Overview

John P. Mulrow, MD, FACC is Board Certified, Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology, and he practices primarily out of Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio’s Medical Center location.

Dr. Mulrow graduated cum laude from Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese studies. He has a medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. Dr. Mulrow completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and was chief cardiology fellow at University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He was an honorary research fellow and clinical assistant with the cardiovascular division of Hammersmith Hospital in London, England, before settling in San Antonio, Texas, where he was cardiology staff director, cardiac transplantation, at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston for two years.

Dr. Mulrow also held teaching positions at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he was also the medical director and consultant for their cardiac transplant program. From 1989 to 1998 he was in private practice before joining Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio. At that time he was also Chief of Cardiology and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization lab at Methodist Hospital.

Dr. Mulrow has also been active in medical staff leadership. He served as president of Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio from 1998 to 2000. He has also served as a member of the Methodist Hospital Executive Committee since 1998 and led that committee as Methodist’s chief of staff from 2006 to 2007. Dr. Mulrow has also been a member of Methodist Healthcare System’s Committee for Peer Review and Quality Improvement and served from 2001 to 2005 and again since 2007.

He has been recognized by Texas Super Doctors since 2005 and he has also been recognized by US News and World Report/Castle Connolly Top Doctors since 2012.
