Dr. Donovan performs transradial heart caths where coronary arteries are examined and treated through the radial artery in the wrist, instead of the femoral artery in the groin. It's more comfortable in patients who are candidates for this approach, and the risk of bleeding and vascular complications are reduced in the transradial approach.
Dr. Donovan's expertise also includes structural heart disease. He performs transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVRs) both transfemoral and transapical TAVR procedures at the South Texas Valve Center at Methodist Hospital.
Cardiology is a specialty of medicine which deals with problems of heart, arteries and veins. Doctors specializing in Cardiology are called Cardiologists and they treat conditions like heart attack, leaky or narrow valves, heart failure and more.
