Dr. Brent Patterson, M.D., specializes in cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology, He is currently accepting new patients at HeartPlace Garland, and HeartPlace White Rock.

A Texas native, Dr. Patterson earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He completed both his internship and residency in internal medicine at Legacy Health System in Portland, Oregon, before returning to Texas to spend his fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center and pursue his passion for cardiology. Dr. Patterson’s areas of interest include cardiovascular risk assessment, resistant hypertension, pre-operative and pre-chemo evaluation, and pulmonary hypertension, as well as the chronic management of coronary artery disease, high cholesterol, valvular heart disease, and atrial fibrillation and anticoagulation. He also personally performs transesophageal echocardiography, cardioversions, diagnostic cardiac catherization, and loop monitor implantation.

“This is an exciting time to work in cardiovascular medicine,” says Dr. Patterson. “We have access to many diagnostic and therapeutic tools that afford physicians the opportunity to focus on a range of cardiovascular medicine. Additionally, I am part of a new generation of cardiologists who understand that more isn’t always better—sometimes, adding another medication isn’t the best form of treatment. My approach to understanding every patient’s unique needs and lifestyle allow me to provide the advice and treatment options that appropriately suits each individual.”
